Artist
Hello!
My name is Valérie and I would like to welcome you to my creative universe.
Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have always loved drawing, painting, and exploring shapes, lines, and colors. Over time, working with wool became a natural means of expression for me, allowing me to add a sensory dimension to my creations.
I create abstract textile works inspired by nature, harmony, and the landscapes that surround me here in Canada, but also by my years spent in Austria and the many places I have been fortunate enough to discover throughout my travels. Colors, natural rhythms, and soft or vibrant contrasts constantly fuel my creative process.
My works are abstract, yet never devoid of meaning. Each one carries an intention, an emotion, an atmosphere. They intentionally leave room for interpretation, so that everyone can project their own sensitivity, their current mood, their memories, or their emotions onto them. The same piece can tell a different story depending on the eye that contemplates it, and it is precisely this silent dialogue between the work and the person discovering it that touches me the most.
I work exclusively with very high-quality materials, chosen with care for their beauty, durability, and softness. I mainly use merino wool as well as 100% New Zealand wool, in order to offer creations that are aesthetic, durable, and pleasant to the touch.
I am very happy to be able to share my work with you through "Atelier Cent Dessins," my little creative haven, where each piece is made with attention, slowness, and passion, and where each work tells a piece of my story while leaving room for yours.
